Evaluating Learning to Enhance Healthcare Outcomes: Two Recent Research-Inspired Innovations

Description: Learning evaluation helps us build effective learning interventions. With good data, we can make good decisions. As we look to our learning designs, we can maintain what works and make changes to improve effectiveness. With rigorous evaluation, we can gain organizational trust, resources, and support.

As nursing professional development practitioners, we do important work supporting nurses and creating quality patient and organizational outcomes. But what if our learning-evaluation practices aren’t fully up to the task? What if they don’t provide us with meaningful data? What if there were new innovations—inspired by the learning research—that would support us more fully in our learning-evaluation work, that would enable us to create more effective learning?

In this closing keynote, noted consultant, researcher, and evaluator, Will Thalheimer—principal at TiER1 Performance—will share two recent learning-evaluation innovations. LTEM, the Learning Transfer Evaluation Model, and Performance-Focused Learner Surveys. These innovations are already transforming learning evaluation in organizations throughout the world. This work, and this session, is not to be missed!

Outcome: 65% of participants who complete the evaluation will report that this session provides information that enhances, validates, or causes a change in practice.
